Flowers in art
The Flower Art Museum is housed in a former rainwater reservoir from the 1960s, opposite Aalsmeer's iconic water tower. The museum officially opened its doors on 1 July 2018 and has since celebrated the beauty of flowers in art.nnWith approximately 900 square metres of indoor space and a spacious rooftop garden, the museum connects with Aalsmeer's reputation as the u0022flower capitalu0022 of the Netherlands. The theme 'flowers in art' has inspired artists throughout the generations.
Our mission
We believe that art and nature are inextricably linked. The Flower Art Museum is a place where visitors can experience, understand and appreciate this connection. Since December 2025, we have been officially recognised as a registered museum.

History
Our timeline
The building
The former rainwater reservoir was built opposite Aalsmeer's water tower. The building functioned for water storage until the 1990s.
Transformation
Decision to transform the location into a museum dedicated to botanical and floral themes in artistic expression.
Opening
On 1 July 2018, the Flower Art Museum officially opened its doors to the public in the heart of Aalsmeer.
Renovation u0026 recognition
Start of major renovation and expansion. On 17 December 2025, the museum received official museum registration.
Reopening
The renewed museum opens with approximately 600 m² of additional space: new entrance, lunchroom, museum shop and a redesigned rooftop garden as a sculpture route.
The collection
Our collection comprises more than 500 artworks that explore the relationship between art and nature. From 17th-century Dutch flower still lifes to contemporary installations, the collection offers a unique perspective on how artists have interpreted the natural world.
